NMW, NLW, NI and Income Tax Rates
Let us help you take the stress out of paying your employees.
We're often asked what are the current rates for National Minimum Wage, the National Living Wage, National Insurance and Income Tax.
We've put together a few tables with all of the data scattered across HMRC's pages into one, easy-to-view page.
NMW and NLW
The hourly rate for the minimum wage and the national living wage depends on your age and whether you're an apprentice.
The national minimum wage only applies if you're of school leaving age (the description for this takes up a page on its own, so here's the link to HMRC).
The national living wage only applies if you're aged 23 or over- the minimum wage still applies if you're 22 and under.
NMW and NLW rates change every year on the 1st of April.
Apprentices
Apprentices are entitled to the apprentice rate if they're either:
-
under 19 years of age
-
19 or older and in the first year of their apprenticeship
Apprentices are entitled to the NMW for their age if they're both:
-
19 or older
-
have completed the first year of their apprenticeship
